7 healthy tips for your next business trip
Going on a business trip can be both stressful and exciting at the same time. The potential of falling in love with a new country is high, but at the same time, it’s also likely to become fatigued by the workload. On top of that, adjusting to a new country can also be stressful as your destination country’s culture may not match with your own. In this stressful, yet exciting time, it is therefore vital to continue taking care of your health.
Being overwhelmed with the myriad of work tasks on a business trip can many times cause people to forget or neglect their health. In light of this, today’s Pacific Prime Thailand article will help those preparing to embark on their business trip by providing the following 7 helpful tips.
1. Stay hydrated
Hustling and bustling through the busy streets to make it on time for your meeting may can cause you to forget about the smaller yet important things. Staying hydrated may not be on your mind at all times, however it is an essential part of maintaining good health. Hence we recommend you carry a bottle of water with you at all times, therefore minimizing the chance of forgetting to stay hydrated. It is recommended that adults drink around 8 cups of water a day, even if you’re on a business trip you should aim to meet that number.
2. Healthy snacks
When you are traveling to an unfamiliar place, it can be hard to have an idea of the types of food they serve there. You may be familiar with their cuisine, but what about their convenience stores or supermarkets? We recommend packing some of your healthy favorites just in case the place you visit does not offer these options. Also, these snacks can come in handy when you are short on time and need a quick bite to recharge.
3. Exercise routine
Being on a business trip should not stop you from completing your daily exercise. Use your free time to visit the hotel gym, or if there isn’t one you can still go out for a jog. It is essential to get your daily exercise as skipping it a few days in a row can ruin your routine.
4. The airport is your gym
We now live in a world where airports aren’t just a stopover point before you fly. Many airports now feature shopping arcades, bars, restaurants, casinos, and lucky for you, gyms as well. If you happen to be in one of those airports that have a gym, use it to your advantage. If there isn’t a gym in the airport you are at, you can still use it to your fitness advantage. A walking lap around the terminal, stretching while waiting to board your plane, or even some yoga moves while waiting to board will help keep you active.
5. Peaceful moments
Business trips can be tiring. Endless meetings, early mornings, and workshops can take a toll on your body. Should you have a chance to rest, it is therefore important to take full advantage of it. Aim to sleep for 7-9 hours daily if you can, and if that isn’t possible, take the maximum amount of rest available to you. This also means turning off all your devices and having a peaceful sleep with no disturbance. This will allow you to freshen up your mind, thus allowing for an optimal business trip.
6. Eat healthily
Long meetings and workshops could mean having to skip meals, but it’s important to only allow yourself to skip meals when its a must. Try your best to grab a quick breakfast to start the day as it is an essential meal to get your mind functioning right. This is also where those snacks mentioned above can come into play, as you can eat those snacks if you have to skip lunch.
Being in a new country may also affect your eating habits, as the majority of food there may not be your cup of tea. We would recommend using your smartphone to check out different restaurants and their menus before making a decision to visit one. On top of that, it is also important to limit the amount of alcohol you drink, as business trips could mean less rest and mixing less rest with alcohol is detrimental to your body.
7. Spare time in the airport
Waiting for boarding time can be gruesome and tiring. As such, it is advised that you use this time as effectively as you can. Some light reading to keep your mind alert, or as mentioned above some light exercise can also help maintain your health. And, if you are the type of person who can’t sleep on airplanes, then use this time to take a nap. This time can also be used to make important phone calls before boarding. Don’t waste this 1-2 hour window and take full advantage of it to ensure you’re adequately prepared for your business trip.
